Nhava Sheva (India) Gateway Terminal Pvt Ltd is a DP World Group company. DP World plays a significant role in the communities in which it operates and strongly believes in its responsibility to contribute to their long term sustainability. We endeavour to make a lasting positive impact to the marginalized communities in our vicinity by means of the ongoing sustainability initiatives of the company: 


Sehat Ki Sawari – Our healthcare project is being carried in association with Wockhardt Foundation’s flagship programme Mobile 1000. We have deployed a mobile medical unit (Sehat Ki Sawari) for providing basic medical facility in the vicinity of Nhava Sheva. Sehat Ki Sawari is equipped with MBBS doctor and a pharmacist providing diagnosis and cure for: Blood Pressure, Hemoglobin levels, Malaria, Diabetes, Fever, Cough, Cold and Dengue and multivitamins tablets to tackle malnutrition in the marginalized communities. Awareness sessions on health and hygiene are also conducted in the Zilla Parishad schools.



Kal Ki Kaksha – School on Wheels Project in association with Pratham Foundation enables children from govt/ govt aided schools and low income private schools to experience advanced learning of technology through computers and up to date IT Quality techniques. Training services are also being extended to school teachers and parents impacting better levels of learning and bridging the digital gap in education for the low income strata of the nearby communities.


Installation of Solar Street Lights – 35 solar enabled LED Streetlights are installed by DP World Nhava Sheva in 4 adjoining villages namely Panje, Dongri, Phunda and Mothijui providing safety to pedestrians and vehicles while travelling by road leading to conducive well lit environment of nearby communities and promoting environmental sustainability.


Amenities for UNESCO World Heritage – Elephanta Caves - Every year around 10 lakh tourists visit the Elephanta Caves which is a UNESCO World Heritage. Since the place is underdeveloped, there are no facilities of resting and people rest on walls and grill resulting in their damage and lack of cleanliness. DP World Nhava Sheva installed 75 FRP benches at Elephanta Island and 20 dustbins to maintain environmental sustainability at the world heritage site.


  • Volunteering Activities :


Tobacco De-addiction Drive – Volunteers of DP World Nhava Sheva meet with truck drivers and explain them the ill effects of chewing tobacco. They also inform the truck drivers various means by which they can quit chewing tobacco and choose healthier options.


World Ocean’s DayOn the occasion of World Ocean’s Day on 8th June 2019, employees participated in Volunteering Activity of cleaning the Gharapuri beach and cleaning & beautification of Pirwadi Beach.

Global Education Program – Students from adjoining Zilla Parishad Schools are given an opportunity to visit the Terminal and learn about Port Operations by educative sessions and terminal tour organized by the employees. This also encourages them to consider working in maritime industry as career options in the future. Global Education Program is a DP World Global Initiative to educate 34,000 students by 2020.



Blood Donation Camps, Health Check up camps and Health and Hygiene awareness programs are organized on a regular basis impacting the local communities positively. Volunteers from DP World Nhava Sheva visit Zilla Parishad Schools of nearby villages and explain the students the importance of washing hands, maintaining hygienic conditions in their surroundings in order to prevent the spread of germs and illness. They also demonstrated the best techniques of washing hands with soap.

They conduct regular Parking Plaza visits to counsel the truck drivers about ill effects of chewing tobacco and other substance abuse. Volunteers have also visited Gurukrupa Old Age Home in Nerul, Navi Mumbai and spent time with the senior citizen members.

The volunteering activities include Global Education Program, Beach Cleaning, Community Cleaning, De-Addiction Drives for truck drivers which are regularly conducted wherein employees actively participate in these campaigns and contribute significantly to the sustainability initiatives of the organization.
